Go Into Your Dance (1935) – Buy This Classic Musical in Color
Experience the dazzling Go Into Your Dance (1935) in stunning colorized HD. Directed by Archie Mayo, this extravagant Warner Bros. musical is historically significant as the only film to co-star real-life married couple Al Jolson and Ruby Keeler together on screen. Jolson plays Al Howard, a supremely talented but impossibly unreliable Broadway star whose drinking, womanising, and chronic irresponsibility have made him unemployable in New York — no producer will risk casting him regardless of his enormous talent. When Al flees to a small casino in Caliente, Mexico, he meets Dorothy Wayne (Ruby Keeler), a sweet, sensible dancer who becomes both his performing partner and his moral anchor. Together they build a show from nothing, but Al’s old habits and dangerous associates threaten to destroy everything they have created. Featuring spectacular Busby Berkeley-choreographed musical numbers and the unmistakable electricity between Jolson and Keeler, this is a must-see for fans of classic Hollywood musicals. Now available as a premium digital download for just €15.00 — DRM-free and yours to keep forever.
Plot Summary
Al Howard is the most talented performer on Broadway — and the most impossible to work with. His singing voice fills theatres, his stage presence is magnetic, but off stage he is a walking disaster. He drinks too much, chases every woman in sight, misses rehearsals, shows up late to performances, and has burned through every bridge in the New York entertainment industry. After his latest disgraceful episode — failing to appear for the opening night of a major new show — every producer in town blacklists him permanently. Even his long-suffering sister Molly, who has spent years making excuses for him, has finally given up.
Broke, blacklisted, and unable to perform anywhere in America, Al drifts south to Caliente, Mexico, where he finds work at a small, shabby casino. It is a humiliating comedown for a man who once headlined the greatest stages in New York, but the casino’s owner recognises Al’s talent and gives him a chance. It is here that Al meets Dorothy Wayne, a talented young dancer who performs at the same casino.
Dorothy is everything Al is not — disciplined, reliable, kind, and utterly professional. She sees past Al’s arrogance and self-destruction to the genuinely brilliant performer beneath, and her steady, no-nonsense influence begins to change him. Together, they develop a dynamic act that electrifies the small casino and attracts the attention of bigger venues. Al and Dorothy fall in love, and for the first time in years, Al has both a reason and a partner worth being responsible for.
But success brings danger. As Al and Dorothy build toward their dream of returning to New York in triumph, Al’s old gangster associates reappear, demanding money and threatening violence. Al’s past mistakes have left debts that cannot be easily escaped, and the criminal world he once carelessly inhabited now threatens to destroy the new life and love he has finally built.

Why Buy This Classic in Color?
The lavish Warner Bros. production values — the spectacular Busby Berkeley musical numbers with their geometric patterns of dancers, the glittering costumes, the exotic Mexican casino settings, the contrast between the shabby Caliente venues and the glamorous Broadway stages, and the stunning art deco set designs — are magnificently enhanced through expert colorization. Historical Significance
Go Into Your Dance holds a unique place in Hollywood history as the only film to pair Al Jolson and Ruby Keeler — the most famous show business couple of the early sound era — as co-stars. Jolson, who had revolutionised the film industry by starring in The Jazz Singer (1927), the first major talking picture, was at a transitional point in his career, and Keeler was at the height of her popularity from the Warner Bros. Busby Berkeley musicals. Their pairing was a major event, and the film’s spectacular musical numbers — choreographed by Berkeley at the peak of his creative powers — include some of the most elaborate and visually stunning sequences of the 1930s. The film also features one of the last great screen performances by the legendary torch singer Helen Morgan. Through colorization, this landmark of 1930s musical cinema has been preserved for modern audiences.
