Plot Summary

Young Heidi is an orphan who has been raised by her kindly Aunt Dete in the Swiss lowlands, but when Dete takes a job in the city, she deposits Heidi with her paternal grandfather, a gruff and solitary old man known as the Alm-Uncle who lives in an isolated cabin high in the Swiss Alps.
