Galdino Ferreira is the most feared cangaceiro in the region, a ruthless and charismatic leader who commands absolute loyalty from his band of heavily armed followers. He has survived for years through a combination of tactical brilliance, utter fearlessness, and a willingness to commit acts of terrible violence that keep both his enemies and his followers in line. Under his leadership, the band operates as a mobile kingdom, appearing from nowhere to strike and vanishing back into the vast wilderness.

The dynamic within the band is disrupted when they kidnap Olivia, a beautiful schoolteacher from one of the towns they raid. Galdino intends to use her as leverage, but his lieutenant Teodoro, a younger and more conflicted man, falls deeply in love with the captive woman.
