Plot Summary

The Dodderers Scout troop is not exactly the pride of the Scouting movement. Led by their enthusiastic but spectacularly incompetent Scoutmaster, the troop consists of a motley collection of well-meaning but hopelessly clumsy individuals whose camping skills leave everything to be desired. Their knot-tying is dangerous, their map-reading leads them in circles, and their campfire cooking is best described as experimental at best.

When the troop sets out for their annual camping trip in the English countryside, expectations are appropriately low. The journey alone produces its share of mishaps as they manage to get lost, annoy farmers, and create chaos in every village they pass through. But upon finally arriving at their campsite, the Dodderers stumble upon something that transforms their holiday from disaster into adventure.

A gang of criminals has been using the remote area to hide the proceeds of a major robbery. The stolen goods are concealed in a series of hiding places scattered through the woods and fields — and the bumbling Scouts keep accidentally finding them while getting lost during their incompetent nature hikes and botched orienteering exercises.
