Plot Summary

Richard ‘Rickie’ Doyle is a charming, adventurous, and chronically irresponsible foreign correspondent based in Lisbon who has been so absorbed in covering the war in Europe that he has completely neglected his marriage. When Rickie receives the divorce papers in Lisbon, he realizes with sudden clarity that Sue is the love of his life and that he cannot bear to lose her. He drops everything and flies back to America in a mad dash to stop the divorce and win back his wife’s heart before she can marry Owen. But Rickie’s timing could not be worse — Sue is determined to go through with the divorce, Owen is equally determined to marry her, and the situation is a powder keg of conflicting emotions.
