Plot Summary
John Doyle (Robert Taylor) is an American adventurer operating a charter boat along the European coast. When a mysterious passenger named Dorek (Eric Pohlmann) hires him for what seems like a routine trip across the English Channel, Doyle has no idea he is about to be pulled into a dangerous web of intrigue. During the voyage, Dorek dies under suspicious circumstances, leaving behind a cryptic map and a handful of clues pointing to a vast fortune hidden since World War II.
Doyle follows the trail to the Netherlands, where the map leads to a brooding riverside mansion known as the House of the Seven Hawks — named for the seven hawk statues that adorn its facade. The estate holds secrets dating back to the Nazi occupation, when a fortune in treasures was hidden by the Dutch resistance. Now, multiple factions are willing to kill to recover it.
As Doyle investigates, he encounters the beautiful Elsa (Nicole Maurey), who seems to know more about the treasure than she reveals, and the seductive but dangerous Constanza (Linda Christian), whose allegiances are uncertain. The local police eye him with suspicion, shadowy figures follow his every move, and cada step closer to the treasure increases the danger exponentially.
The thriller builds through a series of nighttime confrontations, chase sequences through Dutch canal towns, and revelations about wartime betrayals that still echo into the present. Doyle must navigate a treacherous landscape where everyone has secrets and no one can be fully trusted.
