Plot Summary

Professor Norman Reed is a distinguished member of the sociology department at Monroe College, a man who has built his academic career on rational investigation and the scientific method. When he travels to the South Pacific for research, he falls in love with Paula, a beautiful young woman who was orphaned as a child and raised by the islanders. They marry and Norman brings her back to the genteel world of the American college campus.
