Plot Summary

In the murky Louisiana bayou country, a massive engineering project is underway to drain the swamplands for development. The workers are uneasy. Local legends warn that somewhere beneath the dark swamp waters lie two ancient beings — the mummy Kharis and the reincarnated Princess Ananka — both lost during the events of the previous film when they sank into the treacherous New England marshes that have somehow become the Louisiana bayou.

When the drainage work disturbs the earth, Kharis rises from the muck — a terrifying, shambling figure of bandaged death that emerges from the swamp to stalk the terrified workers under cover of darkness. The mummy’s reappearance triggers panic among the local population, who had dismissed the ancient horror as mere superstition until confronted with the walking proof of its terrible reality.

Simultaneously, a beautiful and mysterious young woman is found wandering near the swamp, covered in mud and apparently suffering from complete amnesia. She has no memory of her identity or how she came to be in the bayou, but she is drawn by an inexplicable compulsion toward the ancient Egyptian artifacts that archaeologists have recovered from the drainage site. This woman is the reincarnation of Princess Ananka, and her presence both attracts and enrages the mummy Kharis.

Meanwhile, an Egyptian priest named Ilzor Zandaab arrives with his own sinister agenda. He seeks to capture both Kharis and Ananka and return them to Egypt, using the sacred tana leaves to control the mummy while pursuing a forbidden desire for the beautiful princess. The film builds through atmospheric bayou sequences to a powerful climax as the mummy, the princess, and the priest converge in a final confrontation that brings the ancient curse to its devastating conclusion.
