Plot Summary

In the murky Louisiana bayou country, a massive engineering project is underway to drain the swamplands for development. The workers are uneasy. When the drainage work disturbs the earth, Kharis rises from the muck — a terrifying, shambling figure of bandaged death that emerges from the swamp to stalk the terrified workers under cover of darkness. The mummy’s reappearance triggers panic among the local population, who had dismissed the ancient horror as mere superstition until confronted with the walking proof of its terrible reality.

Simultaneously, a beautiful and mysterious young woman is found wandering near the swamp, covered in mud and apparently suffering from complete amnesia.
