Matt and Jean Doddington Spencer inherit the Doddbury Doddmond Doddingham Bijou Kinema from Matt’s recently deceased great-uncle, and arrive full of excited anticipation only to discover that their inheritance is a crumbling, hopelessly outdated flea-pit cinema situated directly next to the modern and prosperous Grand, which is owned by the businesslike Mr. Hardcastle. The tiny cinema has not turned a profit in years and comes equipped with three spectacularly eccentric and elderly employees who regard the place as their home.
