Plot Summary

Ten-year-old Joey Fane (William Dix) is released from a two-year stay at a psychiatric institution where he was sent after his baby sister Susy drowned in the bathtub. Everyone believes Joey was responsible for Susy’s death — his distraught mother Virginia (Wendy Craig), his preoccupied father Bill (James Villiers), and especially the family’s longtime nanny (Bette Davis), who has served the Fane family with seemingly selfless devotion for decades.
