Plot Summary

Bob Regan is a young attorney with plenty of ambition but very few clients, scraping by in a modest law practice and wondering if his career will ever get off the ground. When Andrew Colby — one of the city’s wealthiest and most influential men — offers him a well-paid position as his personal bodyguard and legal advisor, Regan jumps at the opportunity, unable to believe his luck.

Colby is charming, cultured, and generous. His home is magnificent, his hospitality warm, and his secretary Noel Faraday (Ella Raines) is beautiful and intelligent. Everything seems perfect until Leopold Kroner, a man recently released from prison, breaks into Colby’s home one night.
